Wife hacked to death: Cops nab husband

KINABATANGAN: Police have detained a 30-year-old Indonesian man suspected of killing his wife at the Ladang Pintasan 5B workers' quarters, near here, yesterday.

District police chief Supt A. Sahak Rahmat said the jobless man was arrested today but did not reveal the location of the arrest.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect since yesterday after he was said to have ran away from the scene after the 8am incident.

He said the 27-year-old victim, who worked as an oil palm fruit picker, was found dead with several slash wounds on the face and head, and her three fingers were chopped off.

A neighbour had claimed to have spotted the suspect holding a parang outside the quarters at the time of the incident.

The man was then spotted running towards the river while being chased by several security guards. He gave his pursuers the slip.

Sahak said police believed the attack happened following an argument between the two in the kitchen.

Police investigation also revealed that Indonesian couple did not posses any identification documents. — BERNAMA
