Husband murders wife, lodges police report [NSTTV]

GEORGE TOWN: A misunderstanding between a couple led to the husband murdering his wife.

The incident happened at the couple’s rented unit in the Sri Indah Apartment in Jalan Air Itam here yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as T. Santi, 39, a home tuition teacher.

Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Che Zamani Che Awang said about 4.30pm today, police here were informed by their counterpart in Kulim that a man had surrendered himself, claiming that he had murdered his wife, in their rented unit here.

He said the 42-year-old suspect, a teacher, had admitted to hitting his wife at their rented unit.

“We brought him back to his rented unit here this evening to assist in investigation. When we reached the unit, he opened the door, and upon checks, we found the victim slumped in a pool of blood inside one of the rooms.

“Interrogation on the suspect revealed that at 10pm last night, he woke up and and had a misunderstanding with his wife. He then took a laundry drying rack and hit the victim on the head.

“He then left the home and went back to his hometown in Kulim. He returned to the rented unit at 11am today and found the victim still unconscious,” he said tonight.

Che Zamani said the suspect related the incident to his family members, who instructed him to lodge a report at the Kulim police station.

Che Zamani said checks on the victim found blood on the right side of her head, right brow and left ear. There was also injury on her left brow.

A post-mortem will be conducted tomorrow.

The couple have been married for 10 years but are childless.

The case is investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
