KUALA LUMPUR: The corruption case against former federal territories minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor will be transferred to the High Court.
Sessions Court judge Azman Ahmad made the ruling after deputy public prosecutor Aida Mastura Mohamed told the court that the transfer application was approved by the High Court on Dec 14.
“The application was made by the defence team under Section 417 of the Criminal Procedure Code,” she said during the mention of the case today.
Counsel Datuk Tan Hock Chuan who represented the accused confirmed the matter.
The 68-year-old politician pleaded not guilty to accepting RM2 million without anything in return from one Chai Kin Kong via a cheque belonging to Set Kayamas Sdn Bhd.
The sum was allegedly deposited into Tadmansori Holding Sdn Bhd’s account, in which the accused has an interest, and knowing that Aset Kayamas had connections with his official function.
The offence was allegedly committed at CIMB Bank Bhd, Pusat Bandar Damansara Branch, Level 1, Lot A4, Block A, Pusat Bandar Damansara, here, on June 14, 2016.
The charges under Section 165 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum penalty of two years’ jail and a fine, if convicted.
He was released on RM1 million bail.
