Five secret society members detained while trafficking drugs

KUALA LUMPUR: Five individuals, including a married couple who were suspected to be members of a secret society, were detained together with drugs worth about RM200,000 at Jalan Thamby Abdullah off Jalan Tun Sambanthan in Brickfields.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said four men and a woman aged between 20 and 37 were detained while waiting for clients in the sale and purchase of drugs at a car park at 7.05 pm on Monday after police received information from the public.

“When the raid was carried out by a team from the Narcotics CID from the Kuala Lumpur Contingent Headquarters, the husband and wife and two other men, one of whom was a relative of the woman, were travelling in a Perodua Myvi while another suspect was detained in a Perodua Bezza.

“An inspection on the Myvi found 4.048kg of drugs believed to be syabu in a bag hidden under the front passenger seat,” he told reporters here today.

He said police also seized two vehicles with jewellery, mobile phone, wristwatch and cash estimated to be worth RM55,530.

Mazlan said preliminary investigation revealed that the group began their drug trafficking activities two months ago to finance their secret society group known as Gang 08 and obtained all their drug supply at Bukit Tinggi, Pahang.

All the suspects were addressed in Petaling Jaya, Selangor and were carrying out their drug dealing activities in Brickfields area and sold their drugs to individual buyers.

“They were tested negative for drugs and they also have no previous criminal record,” he said. –BERNAMA
