Cops raid centre, save 13 Vietnamese women

BATU PAHAT: Thirteen Vietnamese women were saved from a human trafficking syndicate following a raid on an entertainment centre in Yong Peng here today.

Batu Pahat District police chief ACP Azhan Abdul Halim said the 1.30am raid was conducted by personnel from the Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance Department, Bukit Aman Anti-Human Trafficking Division (D7C) and the Batu Pahat District Police Headquarters.

“The victims are aged between 19 and 30,” he told a press conference here this evening, adding that they also detained 30 people.

Twenty-four of them, including two police personnel, tested positive for drugs, while two were nabbed for drug possession and four for human trafficking.

Several types of drugs were also seized, including 370 Eramin 5 pills, 1.85g syabu, 0.86g ketamine and 20 bottles of ketum water.
