Cops to semi-naked camp participants: Surrender or we will hunt you

BENTONG: "Surrender at the Bentong police station or we will hunt you."

This is the reminder issued by police to female participants who were caught stripping to their undergarments during a "motivational camp" at a resort in Bukit Tinggi on Tuesday.

A police source said the department are in the midst of tracking down the individuals and if they fail to surrender, police will have to pick them up based on the information which they had provided to the organisers.

"We advise the participants to surrender and assist with investigations. To date, 34 individuals including four men aged between 20 and 35 years old who were picked up at the resort on Wednesday had their statements recorded and have been released on police bail.

"If the other participants fail to come forward, we will have to track their whereabouts based on the information obtained from the organisers," he said when contacted today.

In the incident on March 19, the female participants were allegedly taking part in a game organised by a beauty spa from Johor Baru at the playground within the resort’s compound.

Several images of the female participants had gone viral on Facebook and some of the individuals were semi-naked.

State Criminal Investigations Department chief Datuk Othman Nanyan said some 80 participants attended the three-day programme at the resort which ended on March 20 and some had returned to Kuala Lumpur when police arrived at the premises on Wednesday.

The case is being investigated under Section 294 (a) of the Penal Code for indecent exposure, which can land them in jail for three months, a fine or both upon conviction.
