Datuk Seri remanded over graft in armoured vehicle parts supply project

PUTRAJAYA: A company owner holding the title of Datuk Seri was remanded four days to assist investigations into a RM17 million project involving the supply of parts for armoured vehicles.

The order against the 39-year-old was issued by magistrate Syah Wira Abdul Halim at the magistrate’s court here.

The man was detained at 11.05pm Sunday at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters after having his statement recorded.

Meanwhile, a chief executive officer of a company who had earlier been remanded over the same case has been released on RM20,000 bail in one surety.

It was reported recently that the CEO, who is a Datuk, and a chief financial officer of a company had been arrested over the case.

They were being investigated in connection with possible graft in the supply of the parts for the armoured vehicles.

Sources were quoted as saying the duo was suspected of receiving hundreds of thousands of ringgit from several companies in regards to the supply of parts for the army’s AV8 and Adnan vehicles between 2014 and 2017.
