Duo claim trial to committing mischief by fire at MPS enforcement chief's house

KUALA LUMPUR: Two truck tire cleaners allegedly involved in a rampage at the house of Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) enforcement chief were charged with committing mischief by fire.

Muhammad Yasifullah Abdul Gani, 30, and Muhammad Asyraf Che Khalid, 23, pleaded not guilty to the charge before Selayang Sessions Court judge Rasyihah Ghazali here today.

The duo, together with another person still at large, ere alleged to have committed the offence with intention to cause damage to MPS enforcement chief Nor Hayati Ahmad's two cars which resulted in RM500 loss.

The offence was allegedly committed at the victim's house in Taman Muhibbah, Rawang, at 12.44 am on May 13.

Deputy public prosecutor Nurul Ain Shafie offered RM10, 000 bail to each accused.

Counsel Samreer Singh who represented Yasifullah and counsel Azman Abdullah who represented Asyraf pleaded for a minimim bail to be imposed on their client as both the accused were supporting their family with RM1,600 income per month.

The court then allowed the duo RM8,000 bail with one surety each and ordered them to report to the nearest police station on the first day of each month.

The duo were also ordered not to make any contact or disturb the victim and witnesses until the disposal of the case.

Their case will be mentioned on June 25.

It was reported that a group of men recently went on a rampage at Norhayati’s house in Taman Muhibbah, Rawang.

They splashed red paint on two of her cars and lit firecrackers that were placed in a can of paint filled with nails, iron pieces and paper shreds.

Nor Hayati confirmed that she received threats from several unknown individuals on May 13, which was the second such incident, The first one was on April 28.
