'Abang Botak' gets temporary release from jail

KUALA LUMPUR: Store assistant Danial Abdullah Tan, 31, or "Abang Botak" as described by Netizens, has been granted temporary release from serving his 12 month jail sentence.

This follows the Petaling Jaya Magistrate Court allowing the application to postpone his sentence last Friday.

The decision was made by Magistrate Nur Shahira Abdul Salim who also fixed RM6,000 as bail.

The court also ordered Danial to report to the nearest police station twice a month.

Danial filed an application to review his sentence at the Shah Alam High Court registrar office on June 3.

On May 31, the court sentenced him to 12 months in jail after he pleaded guilty to the offence of causing mischief.

The 31-year-old was charged with causing mischief to a Perodua Alza belonging to Siew Chean Voon, 58, by smashing the windscreen with a crash helmet at Jalan Kasturi, Seksyen 12, Taman Bukit Serdang at 5.30pm on May 28.

The offence falls under Section 427 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of maximum five years or fine, or both, upon conviction.
