KUALA LUMPUR: Ampang Jaya police have detained an actor to facilitate investigations into a cheating case involving RM200,000.
It was learnt that the victim was a producer with a 'Datuk' title.
Sources said the 25-year-old man was arrested after he came to the police headquarters to record his statement on the case at noon today.
"He is being detained to a police report lodged by the victim in June. In the report, the victim, a Datuk, claimed he had lost RM200,000 in an investment introduced by the actor in March."
Police have seized the suspect's handphone in the hope of finding some clues that would benefit the investigation.
Meanwhile, Ampang Jaya deputy police chief when contacted confirmed the arrest.
