GEORGE TOWN: Two policemen were forced to shoot dead a man who ran amok at a factory here today.
The police officers were responding to an emergency call following an incident at the factory, during which two factory workers were slashed with a machete.
According to a source who is familiar with the incident, the policemen confronted the 25-year-old suspect and attempted to calm him down.
However, the suspect proceeded to charge at the policemen, forcing them to open fire in self-defence.
The man died on the spot.
The two injured factory workers were rushed to a nearby hospital and are currently receiving treatment.
The motive behind the attack is still unknown and police have yet to confirm the incident at press time.
