Drunk driver without valid license crashes BMW into Penang lorry

BUTTERWORTH: A man driving under the influence of alcohol drove into the restricted North Butterworth Container Terminal (NBCT) here, before crashing his vehicle into a container lorry, early today.

The 41-year-old event manager, who was dazed but uninjured in the 7am incident, was immediately assisted at the site by an NBCT auxiliary policeman.

Police who were alerted to the crash and had rushed to the scene found that the man had been driving without a valid license.

He also tested positive for drugs, Bernama reported.

Seberang Perai Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Noorzainy Mohd Noor said that the man was detained for an investigation under Section 45A (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving under the influence of alcohol; and Section 15 (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1987.
