29 nabbed for flouting RMCO; 1,000 return from abroad

KUALA LUMPUR: The police detained 29 individuals nationwide yesterday for flouting the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said of the total, eight were remanded while 21 were fined.

"Their offenses include activities at pubs or night clubs (three individuals), activities involving large groups of people, making it difficult for social distancing (13 individuals), and other activities that went against the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)," he said in a statement, today.

Meanwhile, 1,000 Malaysians returned to the country through Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and klia2, yesterday, said Ismail Sabri.

They had flown in from Iran, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, Taiwan, Qatar, Myanmar, Australia, the Netherlands, India, South Korea and Japan.

"Of the total, 998 were told to undergo home quarantine, while two were sent to hospital.

"The police also made 1,230 checks on Malaysian returnees currently undergoing home quarantine and found that all of them are abiding by SOPs," he said.

Ismail Sabri also said that the Construction Industry Development Board has checked nine construction sites, and found all are adhering to SOPs.
