2 Johor MAQIS officers nabbed in meat cartel probe [NSTTV]

JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested two state Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department (MAQIS) officers in connection with the meat cartel investigation.

The two suspects, aged 27 and 31, were arrested at the Johor MACC office about 11pm yesterday (Wednesday) to help in the investigation.

Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrests but did not elaborate as the investigation is still ongoing.

The two suspects have been remanded for four days until January 11.

The remand orders for the suspects were issued by Lower Court Registrar Nur Izzaty Muhammad Zahari.

The case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission Act 2009.

On Monday, MACC arrested four suspects, including the directors of two importing companies, in connection with the investigation.

The suspects were remanded for four days which ended today and have been released on MACC bail of RM10,000 each.
