Brothers detained in connection with Bentong Felda settler's death

BENTONG: Police arrested two siblings for allegedly attacking an elderly man who later died at Felda Mempaga 3 in Lurah Bilut near here yesterday.

The two drug addicts, who had gone into hiding after the 2.15pm incident yesterday, were arrested at about 10am today near the Lembah Klau dam in Raub.

District police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said the 59-year-old victim, a settler at Felda Mempaga 3, was earlier involved in an argument with his 34-year-old son-in-law.

"The son-in-law's younger sibling, who was at the scene became enraged by the heated situation and kicked the victim on the chest. The victim then complained of chest pain and started to vomit before he passed out.

"The victim's daughter, who rushed to his aid immediately alerted the nearby health clinic. The medical team that arrived at the scene confirmed the victim had died," he said in a statement today.

Zaiham said both the suspects fled the scene after the incident before police launched a manhunt and detained them in a hut near the Lembah Klau dam this morning.

"The victim's son-in-law and his 26-year-old younger sibling are self-employed. Both tested positive for drugs and have criminal records.

"The victim's remains were sent to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan to find out the actual cause of death. Both the suspects have been remanded for further investigations," he said, adding the case is investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
