Fugitive Datuk Seri Nicky charged in absentia

JOHOR BARU: 'Geng Nicky' leader Datuk Seri Nicky Liow Soon Hee along with 15 other members were charged at the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court today.

Johor police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said Liow and his personal assistant Niu Zhe, a Chinese woman, were charged under Section 130v of the Penal Code for being members of an organised crime group.

"The charges were made in absentia as both of them are still at large," said Ayob Khan in a statement.

Also charged were Liow's two siblings Datuk Liow Wei Loon and Datuk Liow Wei Kin.

Other members that were slapped with the same charge are Datuk Lee Kum Weng, Datuk Loo Siew Chin, Dr Jovian Joris Tan Chern Chian, Lee Kam Onn, Lee Han Keat, Lee Eng Chee and Lim Kang Li.

Also charged were four Chinese nationals Jiang Xue, Gu Xing Qiong, Wang Yu Jun and Huang Lei.

"An auditor, Datuk Seri Andrew Lim Kim Ming, was also charged under Section 130w of the Penal Code for aiding an organised crime group," said Ayob Khan.

Police had arrested 68 individuals including those with Datuk and Datuk Seri titles believed to be close associates to Liow.

The 33-year-old businessman is suspected to be involved in various offences including money laundering and is still on the run.
