Man arrested for uploading videos insulting TMJ [NSTTV]

JOHOR BARU: A man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly uploading 12 videos containing vile and insulting comments against Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.

Johor police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the man, an assistant at a fruit stall, was arrested at his house in Ayer Hitam, Batu Pahat at 9.30pm on Sunday.

He said the suspect, 31, uploaded the videos onto his Instagram account under the name 'amirul_naito'.

"A police report regarding the video was lodged at the Kangkar Pulai police station at 9am yesterday. Subsequently, nine more police reports were lodged as the videos went viral since yesterday.

"We managed to locate and arrest the suspect at his house in Ayer Hitam last night. A remand application will be made today to enable further investigation," said Ayob Khan in a Press conference at the state police headquarters here.

He said initial investigation showed that the suspect had previous records for criminal intimidation and sedition.

"The case is being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998," said Ayob Khan.
