Driver of speeding Lamborghini in Jalan Tun Razak jailed, fined

KUALA LUMPUR: A 28-year-old driver of a Lamborghini who was caught on a dashcam footage speeding and causing a multiple-vehicle pile up here last month, was sentenced to two weeks' jail and fined RM9,000 by the magistrate's court today.

Magistrate Amanina Mohamad Anuar sentenced Abdul Rahman Abdullah after he pleaded guilty to the offence.

According to the charge sheet, Abdul Rahman who did not have a driving licence had driven a purple Lamborghini Gallardo recklessly and dangerously causing a road accident involving six other vehicles.

He was accused of commiting the offence at Jalan Tun Razak here about 8am on Sept 8.

The charge, under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, carries imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years and a fine of not less than RM5,000 and not more than RM15,000.

Earlier, deputy public prosecutor Siti Nursyuhada Abd Rauf urged for a deterrent sentence to serve as a lesson to the accused while the unrepresented accused who is a father of two pleaded for leniency saying that he was currently jobless.

The court then ordered for Abdul Rahman's jail term to run from the date of arrest on Oct 6.

He was also ordered to serve another five months' jail if he failed to pay the fine.

The accused was also banned from applying for a driving licence for five years.

A dashcam footage of a speeding Lamborghini crashing into a Proton Perdana headed towards the Bulatan Pahang roundabout has been making its rounds on social media.

The incident was recorded by a witness.
