LAHAD DATU: The General Operations Force (GOF) found tools believed to be used by illegal gold miners at Sungai Bole Ulu Segama-Malua, here, yesterday.
Sabah GOF Brigade Commander senior assistant commissioner Abdul Rani Alias said the operation was led by its deputy commander Assistant Commissioner Toipi Lamat together with the Forestry Department.
He said the operations, dubbed as Ops Khazanah, managed to find the items hidden in a large tree.
"Personal items such as clothes and food items were also found kept in the area for the use of individuals who were carrying out the illegal gold mining activities.
"All the equipment and supplies were then destroyed," he said when contacted today.
Abdul Rani said a police report had been lodged for record purposes and for further action from the relevant agencies.
