Married couple nabbed, drugs and cash worth RM800k seized in Temerloh

KUANTAN: A married couple were among four people nabbed after police smashed a drug trafficking syndicate responsible for distributing supplies to Felda settlements in Temerloh on Jan 3.

The suspects aged between 35 and 41-years-old led police to heroin, syabu and Eramine 5 pills worth some RM400,000 at three separate locations.

Besides confiscating cash, jewellery and vehicles worth some RM389,000, police recovered a shotgun which allegedly belonged to the father of one of the suspects.

The incident unfolded on Jan 2 when policemen from the Temerloh Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department arrested a man and a woman at a rented house and seized 15 transparent plastic packets containing heroin and syabu at about 11pm.

Pahang police chief Datuk Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said the couple, believed to be in a relationship, tested positive for drugs and had several previous drug-related records.

"Police later arrested a husband and wife in front of the house at about 12.15am and seized several packets of heroin and syabu. The duo tested negative but had previous records for drugs.

"The husband took police to a house along Jalan Maran where police found several packets containing heroin and syabu believed to be ready for distribution along with 100 pieces of Eramine 5 pills.

"After searching the premises, police discovered jewellery worth RM160,000, RM24,000 in cash and a shotgun," he told reporters during a press conference at the state police contingent headquarters today.

Ramli said police had seized a total 3879g of heroin, 2482g of syabu and 100 Eramine 5 pills along with cash, jewellery, a four-wheel-drive vehicle and a motorcycle worth RM792,000 during the series of raids.

He said investigations revealed the four-member syndicate obtained their supplies from the Klang Valley to be sold to Felda settlements in Pahang.

"They have been operating for about a year and even the recent floods in Temerloh did not affect their operations. They have been remanded till Jan 9 under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act while we are investigating one of the suspects for possessing the firearm under Section 36 of the Firearms Act 1960," he said.
