Six, including two brothers, charged with murder of e-hailing driver [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Six men including two siblings were charged at the Magistrate's court here with the murder of an e-hailing driver during an argument at a nightclub recently.

Teng Cheng Heng, 22, Chew Jun Seng, 22, Yohannes Isaac Anak Luwang, 21, Won Kok Wei, 20, Ng Zhang Jing, 24, and his brother Zhang Le, 20, nodded in understanding when the charges were read to them before Magistrate Wong Chai Sia today.

The six were charged with the murder of Mohd Farid Abdullah, 29, near a nightclub in Sentul at about 1.35am on Dec 28 last year.

They were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

No pleas were recorded.

Deputy public prosecutor Nidzuwan Abd Latip prosecuted while counsel Rodzim Zaimy Abdul Hamid represented Chew.

Another five of the accused were unrepresented.

Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner Beh Eng Lai had on Jan 7, said the fight escalated following an argument involving the victim's 40-year-old girlfriend.

He said said the suspects had tailed the victim's girlfriend, a foreigner, as he came to the premises to pick her up.

"The suspects then beat up the 28-year-old man causing serious head injuries.

"He died while receiving medical treatment two days later," he said.

He added a post-mortem revealed the cause of death was due to blunt force trauma to the head.
