PARIT BUNTAR: A man was charged at the magistrate's court here today with murdering his mother by chopping her into 15 pieces and throwing the body parts into a septic tank on June 4.

No plea was recorded from Ng Yu Lim, 42, after the charge was read out to him before Magistrate Muhammad Syaiful Akmal Mohamad Razi.

He was charged with murdering Ong Suan Bee, 68, at a house in Lorong Bendahara, Taman Kerian here between 2.30am and 3am on June 4.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Ng Yan Ni prosecuted. The accused was unrepresented.

The court then ordered the accused to be sent to Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta here for a month's observation and set July 27 for mention.

The media had previously reported that 15 pieces of a body, believed to be that of an elderly woman, had been found in a septic tank of a house.

Perak police chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid had said that the cut-up body parts were found by the police after receiving a report on the incident about 3.30pm on June 4.

Police had seized a machete, two knives and several other items believed to have been used to commit the murder.

Initial investigations suggested that the cause of the incident was due to the man's dissatisfaction with the division of inheritance by his late father.

The suspect, who allegedly had mental problems, had been living at the house with the victim for 12 years since the father died.
