Area outside Sungai Buloh prison bustling with activity as Court upholds Najib's sentence

SUNGAI BULOH: Spectators are growing in numbers opposite the Sungai Buloh prison since the Federal Court upheld former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's jail sentence in his SRC International appeal this afternoon.

Several dark tinted vehicles and other vehicles were seen parked opposite the prison's entrance, believed to be carrying Najib's supporters.

Newsmen have also been on standby here, awaiting the arrival of the vehicle ferrying Najib.

The Kuala Lumpur High Court had earlier found Najib guilty of misappropriating RM42 million of SRC International funds and ordered him to be jailed for 12 years and fined RM210 million for the seven charges he faced.

Today, Najib lost in his final attempt to overturn the jail sentence and fine as the Federal Court ruled the former prime minister had failed to show how the findings of the lower courts were perverse and needed the intervention of the Apex Court.
