Couple detained over alleged abuse of siblings in Ampang

KUALA LUMPUR: A couple who allegedly abused their nephew, aged 8, and niece, 6, have been remanded for seven days.

Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the remand began today.

Yesterday, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department rescued a boy after he tried to escape his home by climbing out from a window of a fourth-floor apartment in Jalan Cahaya.

The rescue team later found bruises on the victim's back, legs and hands, believed to be signs of physical abuse.

Police later also found bruises on the victim's six-year-old sister.

The suspects, aged 29 and 33, were detained at 6pm yesterday.
