SEPANG: Controversial celebrity entrepreneur Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri Kamarzaman was slapped with four counts of uploading offensive content in his social media account recently.

Aliff Syukri, however, pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him before Sessions Court Judge Ahmad Rizki Abdul Jalil today.

According to the charge sheet, Aliff Syukri was accused of uploading offensive videos in his instagram account with intention to annoy the feelings of others between April 13 and 21 this year.

The video was about several clips of his controversial Hari Raya song 'Kelepuk Raya'.

He faces a maximum one-year jail, RM50,000 fine or both if convicted under Section 233(1) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Deputy public prosecutor Fazril Sani Mohamed Fadzil when prosecuted asked the court to impose RM40,000 bail against the accused.

Aliff Syukri's counsel Awang Armadajaya Awang Mahmud pleaded for minimum bail stating that his client was not a flight risk.

"He is a father of five children and the sole breadwinner to his family.

"As a successful businessman, many lives depend on his business," he said.

The court set RM20,000 bail for all charges and fixed Nov 25 for mention.

The 35-year-old businessman-cum-singer paid the bail.

Later during the proceedings, Aliff Syukri's personal assistant (PA) was warned by the judge after he took pictures inside the courtroom.

The PA in his 30s had taken pictures while the criminal proceedings were ongoing.

The prosecution wanted to initiate contempt proceedings, but the court let him off with a warning.
