Police arrest man in Kepong road rage incident

KUALA LUMPUR: Police today detained the suspect behind the Kepong road rage incident at a traffic light intersection of Jalan Metro 1, Metro Prima, Kepong.

Sentul district police deputy chief Superintendent Heisham Harun said the man, who had four records of past crimes, was nabbed at 3pm when he arrived at the police station to lodge a report.

"The suspect is a 63-year-old local who works as a van driver and will be remanded on Jan 26 (tomorrow) to assist in the investigations.

"The case is being investigated under Section 506 (for criminal intimidation) and Section 427 (for committing mischief) of the Penal Code, as well as Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act for using abusive words (for insulting behaviour) towards the complainant in public," he said in a statement.

The 25-year-old victim, who works as a real estate agent, had also lodged a police report at 2.20pm today, he said.

"The victim was disgruntled with the suspect who knocked on his car's right side window and allegedly threw rocks at his car at a traffic light in Jalan Metro Prima 1, Kepong, Kuala Lumpur.

"The incident was reported to have occurred on Dec 28, 2022, at about 11am. A police review confirms a 28-second video regarding the incident went viral in social media," he said.

The video went viral on Sunday.
