KOTA BARU: Police have arrested a shop assistant suspected to be involved in online gambling here.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the 44-year-old local was arrested at Jalan Padang Tembak near Pengkalan Chepa yesterday.
He said a police team raided the premises about 6.45pm in Op Dadu after the illegal activity went viral on social media recently.
"After raiding the mobile phone premises, police found that it had offered top-up for online gambling to locals," he said in a statement.
Zaki said further investigation showed that the suspect had used WhatsApp to offer top up services for his online gambling customers.
"He admitted his involvement in the activities since last month," he said.
Police also seized a mobile phone and RM196 cash believed to be from the gambling activities, he said.
