Man who burnt wife with hot pair of scissors sent to jail

KUALA PILAH: A mechanic who injured his wife by using a pair of scissors that had been heated up has been sentenced to jail by the Sessions Court here.

The accused, Mohamad Faiz Shahruddin, 28, from Gemas, pleaded guilty when the charge was read out by a court interpreter in front of judge Norma Ismail.

Mohamad Faiz was accused of purposely injuring his 27-year-old wife by pressing a heated up pair of scissors on her left index finger.

The offence was committed at a motorcycle workshop in Felda Jelai at around 10.30pm on Dec 13 last year.

He was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code read together with Section 326A of the same Act.

Norma sentenced the accused to one year in prison from the date of his arrest.

According to the facts of the case, the accused's wife was helping him repair a radio when an argument took place.

Mohamad had chided his wife of not holding the radio properly while they were attempting to repair it.

He then proceeded to take a hot pair of scissors and pressed it on her left index finger. He also punched the right side of her head.

On Dec 16 last year, the accused had pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Amirul Noor Hashimi appeared for the prosecution while the accused was unrepresented.
