Man and mother robbed of jewellery and cash by masked men

KUALA LUMPUR: A shop worker was punched in the face repeatedly and robbed of 3.9 kilogrammes of jewellery and RM5,000 in cash by eight people this morning.

The man was lingering outside his home in Taman Bukit Kinrara here about 4.10am when the robbers, who were wearing masks and brandishing parang, appeared.

He was hit in the face and asked to show where money was stored in the house.

Serdang district police chief Assistant Commissioner A. Anbalagan said the robbers forced him into his house.

"The victim's mother was also forced to take off the jewellery she was wearing.

"The robbers rummaged through each room in the house before fleeing with the jewellery, which was kept in two bags, and the cash," he said in a statement.
