Company director claims trial to evading income tax

BATU PAHAT: A director of a company dealing in the import and export of pine was charged in the magistrate's court here today with evading income tax of more than RM500,000.

Goh Boon Chai, 58, pleaded not guilty before magistrate Nur Asidah A. Rahman.

The director of Syarikat Utara Raya Sdn Bhd allegedly failed to enter the income in Form C for 2019, 2020 and 2021.

He should have paid taxes of RM147,550 for 2019, RM155,140 for 2020 and RM242,688 for 2021.

The Inland Revenue Board had raided Goh's office on Jan 11. An investigation found that he had failed to submit income tax forms within seven months of closing accounts.

The court did not grant bail to Goh and set June 11 for the re-mention of the case.
