KESEDAR accounting staff nabbed over RM24.8 mil CBT case

GUA MUSANG: Police have detained an accounting assistant from the South Kelantan Development Authority (KESEDAR) to facilitate a probe into a criminal breach of trust case involving RM24.8 million.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the 37-year-old man was arrested at his home in Bandar Gua Musang about midnight last night.

He said police had received a report at 6pm yesterday regarding missing KESEDAR funds.

"In the report, KESEDAR claimed that the government's money in two funds, handled by the agency's finance division, went missing between December 2026 to May 2023.

"After receiving the report, a police team was deployed to Bandar Gua Musang where a suspect was arrested at his home," he said in a statement.

Zaki said initial investigation showed that the suspect has transferred the money into his bank account through 194 transactions.

He said the suspect has been remanded for a week beginning today to assist the probe.

The case is being investigated under Section 408 of the Penal Code.
