PASIR GUDANG: A seven-year-old boy believed to be physically abused by his mother and her partner in a housing estate near here, has been hospitalised for observation.
The victim is currently under observation at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital, while his 27-year-old mother and her 30-year-old partner have been held held to facilitate investigations under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child's Act 2001.
The alleged abuse came to light after footage of several men believe to be the couple's neighbours were seen confronting them and showing the injuries sustained by the boy, went viral and were picked up by media agencies.
Seri Alam police chief Superintendent Mohd Sohaimi Ishak confirmed a police report over the incident was lodged by a member of the public on Friday.
