Police obtain remand for two women for alleged abuse of 7-year old boy

PASIR GUDANG: Johor police arrested two women for allegedly abusing a seven-year-old boy at their house in Bandar Layang Kasa, near here, today.

Johor police chief Commissioner Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said a police team raided the house about midnight and arrested the boy's mother who was remanded for six days, while her partner received a seven-day remand order.

Also seized from the two women, aged 27 and 30, were two canes. Both women tested negative for drug abuse and did not have any prior criminal records.

Kamarul Zaman said the boy's condition is stable, and he is currently under observation at the Sultan Ismail Hospital.

Meanwhile, the consort of the Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Che' Puan Besar Khaleeda Bustaman took to her official Facebook page, commenting on the alleged abuse.

She thanked the State Women, Family and Community Development chairman Khairin-Nisa Ismail for her prompt action in removing the boy from the house for treatment.

She also praised the residents of the housing estatewho took it in their stride to confront the couple, when they suspected a child was in need. 

Earlier, the New Straits Times reported that the boy was allegedly abused by his mother and her partner after their neighbours confronted them.

The footage of the confrontation went viral today.
