Perak cops seize drugs worth RM1.5m in raids

IPOH: Police seized ketamine and methamphetamine worth RM1,561,040 in two raids in Gunung Rapat here last Wednesday.

State police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said five men, aged between 20 and 27, were arrested during the raids in Kampung Gunung Rapat and Kampung Rapat here.

He said police also seized a car, two motorcycles and cash.

The initial arrests involved three men in a car parked by a roadside along Jalan Gopeng in Kampung Gunung Rapat after police found the drugs.

"This led to the second raid at a house in Kampung Rapat, resulting in the arrest of the other two men," he said at a press conference here yesterday.

Yusri said four of the suspects tested positive for THC.

He said four of the suspects had prior records, including drug-related offences, adding that the case will be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

All the suspects have been remanded until Sept 27 to aid in the investigation.— BERNAMA
