Police nab man with eight crime records, seize RM10k worth of drugs

TUMPAT: Police nabbed a man with eight prior criminal convictions after discovering him in possession of heroin and pills valued at over RM10,000 during a recent operation.

A man with eight previous criminal convictions was nabbed by the police for possessing heroin and pills worth more than RM10,000 in a recent operation.

Tumpat police chief Assistant Commissioner Amran Dollah said the the arrest took place during a raid in Kampung Padang Rokma on Wednesday night.

He said police conducted the raid at 8pm following a tip-off from the public.

"During the raid, police found five small plastic bottles containing a whitish powder suspected to be heroin, as well as some methamphetamine pills," Amran said.

"The seized heroin weighed about 22 grams, and the pills were valued at over RM10,000.

"Police then arrested the 46-year-old suspect," he said in a statement.

Amran said initial investigations suggest that the seized drugs were intended for local distribution.

"We suspect that these narcotics may have been smuggled into the district through one of the numerous illegal jetties along the border.

"The suspect, who has a history of eight previous convictions and tested positive for drug use, has been remanded for seven days starting yesterday to assist the police in their ongoing investigation," he added.
