MACC nabs enforcement officer for asking for RM30k bribe to cover up fake documents given by company owner

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers detained an enforcement officer on suspicion of seeking approximately RM30,000 in bribes from a company owner.

The suspect demanded the money to cover up fake documents provided by the business owner in his attempt to secure a government bulletin publishing contract.

Sources revealed that the suspect, aged in the 40s, was apprehended around 4pm at a cafe in Subang Jaya.

The suspect is believed to have contacted the company owner last month.

Selangor MACC director Datuk Alias Salim confirmed the arrest, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 16(a)(B) of the MACC Act 2009.

He added that the suspect will be brought to the Shah Alam Court tomorrow at 8.30am for remand proceedings.
