Cops hunt Pekan MRSM intruders who were spotted at girls hostel

KUANTAN: Police have initiated investigations into allegations that intruders had been giving occupants at the female hostel at the Tun Abdul Razak Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) in Pekan sleepless nights.

Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said the department had received a report from MRSM and the case is still under investigations.

"We have gone to the premises and met the MRSM management to gather further information on the reports about the presence of strangers in the hostel rooms. We will look from all angles including if the culprits were insiders," he told reporters during a press conference at the Pahang police contingent headquarters here today.

Yahaya declined to comment further on the matter saying police will speak to several individuals at the premises as part of their investigations.

On Nov 5, a Facebook user wrote that the female occupants were worried after intruders were spotted entering the girls hostel in the early hours of the morning and an individual believed to be a parent claimed that some of the female students were being harassed.

The individual urged Mara chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki to interfere and ensure the safety of the students.

Yesterday, Asyraf Wajdi assured that the incident was being probed and promised the safety of the students will be given top priority.

He said there is nothing to hide on the matter and each issue raised to him will be addressed accordingly.
