Couple allegedly responsible for abandoning four children in Kampung Gajah remanded

IPOH: Two individuals believed to be the parents of four abandoned children at a guardhouse of the Perak Tengah Administrative Complex in Kampung Gajah last week have been remanded.

The remand order on the couple, both in their 30s, was issued by the Parit Magistrate Court until Friday to assist in investigations.

The male suspect was remanded for four days starting yesterday, while the woman was remanded for three days starting today.

The investigation of the case was carried out in accordance with Section 33(a) of the Child Act 2001 for leaving a child without proper supervision.

Perak Tengah police chief Superintendent Hafezul Helmi Hamzah said the two individuals involved were arrested separately after he received a report about the incident from Kampung Gajah Social Welfare Department (JKM) staff.

He said the investigation found that four siblings consisting of boys aged 11 years, three years and a 10-month-old baby as well as a six-year-old girl were abandoned by a man riding a Modenas Kriss motorcycle.

Also left was a plastic package containing only milk and disposable diapers.
