Legal battle unfolds: J-KOM staff Wahab takes action over viral video

KUALA LUMPUR: Community Communications Department (J-KOM) staff Abdul Wahab Kadir Jilani has taken legal action against blogger Badrul Hisham Shaharin, popularly known as Chegu Bard and J-KOM's training division director Hakim Ramlee.

The lawyer representing Wahab, Faizal Rahman, confirmed that a writ of summons had been sent to the two parties.

"The claim is related to the dissemination of a sexually explicit video involving an individual resembling the former Director-General of J-KOM, Datuk Mohammad Agus Yusoff, and Wahab.

"So far, the directive given (by Wahab) is to issue a writ of summons to these two individuals regarding the dissemination of the explicit video," he said when contacted.

When asked about the individual alleged to be the mastermind of the conspiracy, known as Mr H, Faizal stated that the revelation of the identity had been entirely handed over to the police.

"No comment, but in my opinion, the police should reveal (Mr H's identity) to show impartial administration," he said.

Previously, a clip of ex-J-KOM director-general Datuk Dr Mohammad Agus Yusoff and Wahab's conversation of a sexual nature went viral just hours after the J-KOM chief confirmed his resignation.

Both of them had denied the video's authenticity, claiming that the audio had been doctored by someone they identified as Mr H.

Wahab had claimed that he was lured by Mr H through promises of positions in the government department if he was willing to frame Agus.

He claimed that Mr H had instructed him to record a video conversation with Agus to obtain evidence of Agus' involvement in immoral and illicit activities.
