(UPDATED) Son arrested in under 3 hours for brutal murder of elderly parents [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: A tragic incident unfolded as a 42-year-old man was apprehended for the alleged murder of his elderly parents on Saturday night.

The arrest occurred under the Sprint Highway Penchala Tunnel around 10.30pm.

According to Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner Amihizam Abdul Shukor, the case was resolved within two hours and 40 minutes.

The suspect, with a history of nine drug-related offences, is now under investigation for murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

"Preliminary findings indicate that the elderly couple, aged 72 and 82, were discovered with stab wounds on the floor inside their home at Jalan Penchala Hilir 6, Sungai Penchala.

"The police were alerted to the situation at 7.43 pm after reports of a fight between the man and his parents.

"The suspect had initially fled into the nearby wooded areas but was successfully tracked down and arrested by a team from the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent's Criminal Investigation Department and the Brickfields CID at the tunnel," he said in a statement.
