Zayn still alive five hours after being reported missing

KUALA LUMPUR: Police said Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin was seen alive by two witnesses after being reported missing for five hours on Dec 12.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan told New Straits Times that the six-year-old autistic child was last seen alive around 5 pm on Dec 12 at Apartment Idaman in Damansara Damai, Petaling Jaya.

"The conducted mass screening yielded positive results as we identified two child witnesses who saw the victim on the second and third floors of Block R on the evening of Dec 5," he said.

Hussein later told an online portal that the two children saw Zayn on Dec 5 between 5 pm and 5.30 pm and was seen alone in the corridor.

That is around five hours after Zayn was reported missing since 12.30 pm on Tuesday (Dec 5).

"As of now, we have gathered a total of 238 DNA samples," he said, emphasising the need to acquire additional statements beyond the current tally of 86.

Earlier, Zayn's body was found in a water channel near a reservoir, about 200 metres from his home in Block R of the mentioned apartment, around 10 pm on Dec 6.Zayn Rayyan's death was later classified as murder after a post-mortem examination revealed injuries to the child's neck and body.
