35 rogue men in blue expelled - Kelantan police clean house

KOTA BARU: Thirty-five police members and officers in the state have been dismissed from service for various offences since January this year.

State police chief Datuk Mohamad Zaki Harun said the 35 were caught for various offences ranging from drugs to crime activities.

"Nine of them faced dismissal due to their involvement in misconduct or mismanagement. The rest implicated in various offences such as drugs, criminal activities, corruption, Syariah violations, and traffic offences," he told reporters today.

Zaki said all the 35 had faced disciplinary action resulting in dismissal from service.

He added that this year's figure was lower than last year, which saw 70 men in blue dismissal.

"Despite decreasing numbers this year and efforts to manage the issue, we are worried. The worry persists because any association with immoral activities has the potential to tarnish the image of the police force," Zaki added.

Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain urged all in the force to uphold its image, emphasising the importance of using their authority responsibly and avoiding misuse under the cover of their uniforms and badges.
