Two foreigners arrested in connection with murder in Taman Ungku Tun Aminah

JOHOR BARU: Two foreign nationals were detained on suspicion of being involved in the murder of a female foreign national in a house in Taman Ungku Tun Aminah, here, early yesterday morning.

North Johor Baru police chief, Assistant Commissioner Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh, said the suspects, aged 24 and 41, were apprehended at a garbage disposal site in the respective residential area less than 24 hours after the police received a complaint about the murder case.

"At 4.35am on Sunday, a report from the public regarding the murder of a 41-year-old female foreign national was received by the police. The investigation revealed that the incident occurred around 2.30 am. The victim is suspected to have been stabbed with a sharp object. Acting on the information, at 7.47 pm, two foreign nationals believed to be involved in the case were arrested, and a knife was also seized," he said in a statement today.

Balveer Singh stated that, based on the investigation, one of the detained suspects is the victim's sibling, and the motive for the incident is still under investigation.

"The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code. Members of the public with any information about the incident can channel it to the case investigating officer, Assistant Superintendent Wong Chee Hoong at 016-6943836," he said.
