12-year-old allegedly sodomised by dorm roommate 30 times over 8 months

MELAKA: A 12-year-old has lodged a police report alleging that he was repeatedly sodomised at a hostel over an eight-month period.

He claimed that he was sodomised 30 times by his dormitory mate, a 20-year-old man, since May.

The incidents reportedly occurred within the men's dormitory in the Melaka Tengah district, including in a room and a toilet.

The victim claimed that the suspect had also forced the boy to sodomise him in turn on several occasions.

Melaka police chief, Datuk Wira Zainol Samah, said after almost eight months of keeping it a secret, the victim decided to disclose the matter to his father last Saturday.

The victim claimed the incident began on May 14 this year, when the suspect woke him up from sleep around 3am and sodomised him.

This act was allegedly repeated the next day at 2am.

"The victim claimed the suspect also took him to the dormitory toilet on May 20 about 9pm. There, the suspect forced the boy to sodomise him.

"The victim complied out of fear.

"The incident did not stop there as the suspect assaulted the victim two days later in the toilet of the premises," he said in a statement today.

Zainal said the boy, in his report, claimed he did not tell anyone of the incidents out of concern for his safety.

However, things came to a head when the boy eventually told his father of the incidents. The suspect then came to the boy's home on Saturday at 11.45am.

The boy's father then assaulted the suspect. The suspect was later arrested by policemen from the Tanjung Minyak police station.

Zainal said the boy is the second of three siblings.

"The victim had been living in the male dormitory since April to make it easier for him to go to school. This was because his mother, a teaching assistant, lived in the nearby female dormitory," he said.

He said the suspect hails from Kepala Batas, Penang and is unemployed.

He has been remanded for six days from yesterday until Dec 30 to assist in the investigation, which is being carried out under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
