Two cops charged with rape, extortion of college students released after posting bail

KUALA LUMPUR: The two policemen charged with raping and extortion involving two private college students have been released after posting bail.

This was confirmed by their lawyers when contacted after the proceedings today.

Lance Corporal Muhammad Fazrul Razzi Yunus was charged with raping an underaged Uzbekistan girl inside a police patrol last week.

The father of two was also charged with committing unnatural sex, carnal intercourse against the order of nature, and sexual assault against the 17-year-old victim near Persiaran Saujana Ampang at 10.30pm on Jan 9.

He committed the offence near Persiaran Saujana Ampang on Jan 9.

Sessions Court judge Norshila Kamaruddin set RM20,000 bail after he pleaded not guilty to all offences.

Lawyer G. Visvanathan Nair who appeared for the accused said his client has paid the bail.

"His family member had posted bail," he said.

Fazrul and his partner Muhammad Adib Aikal Sharul Nizam also posted their RM4,000 bail after they claimed trial for extorting RM 500 from the victim and her boyfriend at the same date and time.

Adib's counsel Kee Wey Lon confirmed this when contacted.

They were charged under Section 384 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum of 10 years' jail, a fine or whipping upon conviction.
