Serial offender with long criminal record nabbed with 4kg of syabu [NSTTV]

TAWAU: A man who had a criminal record with 15 entries in it was arrested again, this time with 4,033.87g of syabu worth RM240,000 in a raid in a residential area here.

The 31-year-old was nabbed by a team of Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) policemen from the state and district police headquarters on Thursday.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Jasmin Hussin said the man was seen carrying a black plastic package when he was detained for inspection.

He said the man tried to flee but was apprehended after a brief struggle.

"The subsequent examination found four green plastic packages labelled 'Guanyinwang' (Oolong tea) each containing a compressed crystal substance suspected to be syabu. We arrested the suspect and seized the items," he told reporters.

Jasmin said the man, originally from outside the district, was attempting to sell the drugs in the area.

"The suspect has a criminal record with 15 entries, including two records under sections 12(2) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, in addition to other offences, including theft and fraud.

"A seven-day remand order for the suspect was obtained until Jan 26 for further investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 (for trafficking)," he said.
