ALOR STAR: A woman is believed to have drowned while undergoing diving training in the waters of Pulau Payar yesterday.
Kota Setar district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Shukri Mat Akhi said that the 43-year-old victim was from Kajang, Selangor.
He said, at 2pm yesterday, Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) personnel informed the Langgar Police Station regarding the death of the woman.
"The victim was confirmed dead while en route from Kuala Kedah Jetty to HSB.
"Based on investigations, the victim was undergoing diving training with a local licensed company in the waters of Pulau Payar when she is believed to have drowned," he said when contacted today.
Ahmad Shukri stated that the case is classified as a sudden death.
