Couple operating fake Suria KLCC online store busted

KANGAR: Police have busted a fake Suria KLCC online store after arresting a couple in Sekinchan, Selangor, recently.

Perlis police chief Datuk Muhammad Abdul Halim said the scam was uncovered after a man in his 40s from Kangar lodged a report on Jan 23.

"The victim fell for the scam after buying a Dior Sauvage fragrance through a Facebook link on Jan 9 after being convinced that it was a legitimate online shopping website.

"The perfume was sold at RM200 after a supposed 60 per cent discount," he said in a press conference at the state police headquarters here today.

He said that upon receiving the item on Jan 17, the victim suspected that the perfume was fake and subsequently lodged a report.

Following the report, he said police raided a warehouse in Sekinchan, Selangor, on Wednesday.

Muhammad said that during the raid, police seized counterfeit items, such as perfumes, Rolex watches, headphones and earbuds, as well as a computer and a modem, all of which were worth RM214,051.

"During the raid, we arrested a man in his 50s. Today we picked up his wife, a Vietnamese in her 30s," he said.
