Young man found drowned in Sungai Mentua, Pulau Ular

TUMPAT: A young man was found drowned at Sungai Mentua in Pulau Ular near Pengkalan Kubor.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Amran Dollah said the body was discovered floating in the river by a villager around 4pm.

He said the villager promptly informed the police, who arrived at the scene at about 4.30pm.

With the assistance of the Marine Police, the body was retrieved from the river.

Amran said there were no visible injuries on the man's body, and he was wearing a t-shirt and sport track suit.

The body was sent to Tumpat Hospital for a post-mortem examination, which revealed that the cause of death was drowning.

Initial investigations suggested that the man fell off a bridge at Pulau Ular and the incident had gone viral on social media.

Police have classified the case as a sudden death.
