AMPANG: A sales assistant found herself in distressing circumstances when she was allegedly assaulted by a co-worker at a supermarket in Taman Permata here, last Thursday.
The 32-year-old woman was hugged, kissed, and touched inappropriately by a 27-year-old foreign man before she lodged a report on the incident to the police. Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said they received the report at 4.45 pm on the day of the incident.
"The victim said that after finishing her work in the storage area, the suspect asked her about her weight before proceeding to hug her from behind. "The suspect also attempted to kiss the victim on the mouth," he said in a statement today.
Responding to the report, Mohd Azam said a police team conducted an investigation and successfully arrested the suspect at Jalan Taman Permata at 2.30 pm yesterday. He said the suspect will be remanded for four days starting today until Tuesday, and the case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for outraging modesty.
